Arena Debuts Mural Honoring Women in Sports in The Hub on Causeway

Boston, MA (May 5, 2025) – TD Garden, in collaboration with TD Bank, is thrilled to announce Massiel Grullón as the 2025 TD Garden House Artist.

Launched in January 2023, the TD Garden House Artist initiative celebrates and empowers local artists from underrepresented New England communities. As part of Access the Arts, powered by TD Bank, it strives to broaden access to arts and live entertainment. With TD Garden’s naming rights extended through 2045, TD Bank has pledged over $15 million to community programming, reinforcing its commitment to cultural enrichment and support.

Massiel Grullón, a Boston-based Dominican muralist and designer, was selected from a talented pool of artists. Grullon was selected by the TD Garden House Artist selection committee due to her portfolios mix of large-scale murals, engaging line work and her works sense of movement and progress. Her work specializes in retro-nostalgic murals for diverse spaces, including corporate, public, retail, healthcare, residential, and educational settings. Her work uses harmonious gradients to create inviting environments that encourage viewer engagement. Grullón’s mission is to evoke nostalgia, foster connection, and celebrate shared experiences through bold, transformative visuals that inspire reflection and a sense of belonging.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Massiel Grullón as our 2025 TD Garden House Artist," said Glen Thornborough, president of TD Garden and COO of the Boston Bruins. "After receiving hundreds of applications from talented local artists, Massiel stood out for her unique artistic vision and her ability to create meaningful connections. This year, we asked our artist to focus on 'Women in Sports,' and Massiel's interpretation—brought to life with vibrant colors, dynamic movement, and powerful imagery— embodies the strength, resilience, and empowerment that define women's lasting impact on both sports and entertainment."

This year’s theme, "Women in Sports," celebrates the achievements and contributions of female athletes within TD Garden and Boston’s history. Grullón’s mural will honor the legacy of women in sports, highlighting their strength, determination, and resilience. Featuring dynamic and empowering imagery, the mural will capture the essence of female athletes who have broken barriers and inspired future generations.

"The art piece, Women in Sports, is a tribute to strength, movement, and visibility,” said TD Garden House Artist Massiel Grullon. “Creating this artwork for TD Garden was an honor. I wanted the design to celebrate women across all levels of sports, from pros to fans, while reflecting energy, unity, and pride. Using bold silhouettes, vibrant gradients, and flowing lines, I aimed to capture the rhythm of competition and the presence of the community. It's all about showing up, taking space, and being seen.”

"We at TD Bank believe that art has the power to impact all of us and bring communities together to recognize our shared and unique experiences," said Sheryl McQuade, Regional President of the New England Metro, TD Bank. "We also are strongly committed to supporting and uplifting women and girls. Massiel's art showcases and celebrates both of these ideas."

TD Bank is opening its newest location in Nubian Square in Roxbury on May 9. A community grand opening celebration will take place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., including a live art demonstration from Grullón, musical entertainment, food and more. The Nubian Square location is a special community store format, which includes dedicated space for TD and neighborhood nonprofits to host financial education seminars and other community events in addition to the traditional banking space. The store also includes artwork created by teens in the Artists for Humanity project.

TD Garden and TD Bank remain committed to supporting local artists and fostering a sense of connection and belonging through public art. The TD Garden House Artist program continues to be a cornerstone of this commitment, celebrating the creativity and diversity of New England's artistic community.
